Workshops for Teachers

The components of robotics—math, mechanical engineering, programming, and some creative problem solving—are ideal for curriculum enhancement.  And, working with robotics can be a lot of fun for both students and teachers.  Acroname is working to provide the tools and resources for educators to develop their own programs.  In addition, we offer workshops taught by our staff in schools and other educational programs.

The best way to learn about how robotics could be applied in your classroom is to roll up your sleeves and join us for one of our workshops.  Acroname name offers both four- and one-day workshops that give participants a chance to explore the breadth of robotics.  For dates and descriptions of our workshops, visit Fall Workshops .

Acroname in the Classroom

Acroname has developed a three-phase program that flexibly integrates into middle- and high-school curricula.  In these programs, students build robots from the ground up.  During the course of building the robots, students address mechanical design, discuss the math and physics behind the robots' movement and behavior, and learn the programming used to apply those concepts.

During the winter of 2001, Acroname designed and ran a workshop series for Challenges, Choices and Images Literacy and Technology Charter School (CCI), a public charter school located in Aurora, Colorado.  The workshop was sponsored by the Leave a Little Room Foundation.  To view pictures and learn more about this event, please visit Leave a Little Room

For more information on holding a robotics workshop in the classroom, please contact Patricia Elwood, Workshop Director.
