Ordering Information
Part Number:R330-SR4000-10M-ETH
Price:$9095.00
Weight:3.00 lbs

The SR4000 is an optical imaging system which provides real time distance data at video frame rates. Measurements are obtained using the time-of-flight (TOF) principle out to 10 meters. This 12V powered device delivers information over a ethernet transport to your host processor for interpretation and visualization.

More Details:

The SR4000 has an integrated feedback system that allows the ranger to continuously self calibrate. Self calibration reduces distance error measurements in variable environmental conditions. The sensor is designed for indoor use and should not be used in direct sunlight.

Included in the package are the sensor housed in an anodized aluminum enclosure, a 12V wall transformer power supply, an ethernet cable, 6' trigger cable and a CD-ROM. The CD-ROM contains a manual, drivers for Windows and Linux and a demo program for Windows. The source code for the console and data visualization demo programs are also included.

This sensor communicates with the host computer via TCP/IP transfers. Users will need to be proficient in coding and comfortable with using TCP/IP sockets in this manner to take advantage of this sensor's capabilities.

Differences between SR4000 models:

Different models exist for the SR4000 Swiss rangers. Details are outlined the SR4000 Comparison Guide listed in the Related Resources.

Connector Pinout:

All connections to the SR4000 are located on the back of the ranger.

Dimensions:

All dimensions are in millimeters unless otherwise specified.

Measurement Considerations:

SR4000 measurements are accurate within the designed sensing range, also referred to as the non-ambiguity range. Some environments are limited in geometry which will constrain the sensing boundary. Under environments where the sensing boundary is not constrained, the ranger may report false readings - an effect MESA calls folding. Folding occurs when a sensed objects amplitude reading is high enough and outside the defined range boundary of the SR4000. This will cause the ranger to report an object inside the non-ambiguity range. For example, if an object is measured at 12m (2 meters outside the sensing range), the SR4000 will report an object at 2m. The recommend solution is to filter out detected objects by adjusting the amplitude threshold for the SR4000.

Temperature Considerations:

It is important to keep into consideration the SR4000 operating temperature. High working temperatures can affect the ranger readings, creating unreliable data. This situation may occur even when ambient environmental conditions are within the specified ranger tolerance. High integration times or closed volume workspaces that have limited airflow can cause significant increases in operating temperature. Under these types of conditions, it is recommended to attach a heat sink to the outside of the SR4000 housing.

Drivers and Downloads:

Drivers and software downloads are available through MESA Imaging's website. Driver downloads are available for Windows and Linux. Demonstration software is available for Windows. A sample image from the demonstration software is shown with the Garcia mobile robot.
