You get a 12" ribbon cable with one side pre-crimped and the black 3-pin housing. The red wire may be used to identify the ground connection.

Note that we provide a 4-wire ribbon cable in the package. You can strip off the extra grey wire and use it for something else. Or you can leave the extra wire attached and route it to another IO pin. This is handy for devices with 2-wire interfaces such as the SRF04 ultrasonic ranger.
