Expo 2001 was a Hit!

Over 3,000 robotic enthusiasts were on hand for the 2nd Annual Acroname Robotics Expo held at the Boulder Elks' Lodge on March 3rd, 2001.  Scott Askew of NASA's Automation Simulation and Robotics Division highlighted the event with his presentation on "Humanoids in Space." Also on hand was Larry Esposito of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics.  Dr.  Esposito spoke of his current research regarding a robot craft to Pluto.

The competitions turned out to be a huge success, but it was the LEGO Workshop that stole the show.  Ten teams using just a laptop and a LEGO Mindstorm Kit had just the afternoon to build a robot that could challenge the Acroname Obstacle Course.

Another huge hit of the Expo was the Vendor and University Participation.  Just read these great responses!

"I thought you guys did an awesome job.  I am already cramming my brain with new ideas for next year."-- Clay Thompson, 7th Generation Technologies

"The students had a great time in Colorado...and had a wonderful time interacting with the crowd."--David Ahlgren, Trinity College

"You all put on a wonderful and well-organized event and it was delightful to see the interest, enthusiasm and talent among young people and their parents.  We look forward to our continued participation."--Klaus Peters, AK Peters
