A stock Garcia has an alternate serial port located near the front right corner.  This is the serial port for the Moto 1.0 module.

If some system settings get corrupted and the host loses contact via the GP serial port, it may be possible to connect the host computer via the Moto serial port.  The recover feature of the GarciaTool application may be used to restore the default communication settings of the robot.

An auxillary serial device may also be connected to the Moto serial port.  Data may be relayed to the host or the Moto board may handle serial IO directly.
