The Front

Garcia's front features.

Indicators

There are four indicator LEDs on the front of the Garcia.  They are, from left to right, the GP 2.0 Heartbeat Indicator (green), the Power Indicator (red), the User Indicator (yellow), and the Moto 1.0 Heartbeat Indicator (green).  The clear, center LED is an IR emitter for sending information to other Garcia robots or consumer electronics that have IR remote capabilities.

Sensors

Garcia has two forward looking IR rangers mounted in a symmetric fashion for straight ahead object detection and for aligning with walls or other straight surfaces.

Insert Panel

The front of the chassis has a rectangular space for mounting an acrylic panel.  A user can modify this panel to mount additional sensors or other devices on the front of the robot.  Replacement panels may be purchased separately.

IR Receiver

The Garcia robot has the capability to receive IR information from either handheld IR remotes or other Garcia robots.  The small green window on the top of the head is an IR receiver.

Antenna

If a Garcia robot is factory configured with a Wireless RF Serial connection to the host or a Bluetooth to serial adapter, the antenna passes through a hole behind the IR receiver in the top of the head.  Otherwise, the hole is empty.
