There is a built-in demonstration program in every Garcia robot that helps you check the basic function of your robot without any host computer interaction.  It will run out-of-the-box.  This is a great first step in getting to know how Garcia will perform.

If you have the speech module option, your robot will tell you what it is doing during the demo.  If you have the IR remote control option, you can take control during the demo and try out some additional features.

Make It Go

The robot has a slide switch for power and a small push button in the back of its head.  To run the demo, hold down the button and turn on the robot.  When the yellow LED on the front of the head lights up, release the button.  Your robot will start roaming the room...

To halt the demo, grab your robot before it gets away and turn it off.

Where's the Program?

You may have been wondering how the robot can run a demo program without a host computer.  In its basic configuration, a Garcia robot has a large chunk of free memory.  The demo program resides in some of this unused memory.
