| ![]() Overview Garcia configured with a Gumstix Verdex Pro host and scanning laser ranger is a complete mobile sensing and computing platform. In addition to the features provided in the base Garcia and the Gumstix Verdex Pro host, adding a scanning laser provides millimeter distance measurements at a 240 degree field of view. The laser is interfaced through USB to the Gumstix Verdex Pro motherboard and power is supplied from the base Garcia network. Mount holes in the lid are centered at the central axis of the Garcia robot. Laser power is provided by the base Garcia platform. Sensing information is gathered by the Gumstix Verdex Pro processor in bulk transfers based on the Hokuyo SCIP communication protocol.
