Now you will install the four blue capacitors. Orientation is not important for these ceramic capacitors. They will be installed on the bottom of the board and bent flat against the board. It is easiest to bend the leads at a right angle prior to installing them on the board. Use the overview picture from Part 1 to determine the desired capacitor arrangement on the bottom of the board.
Detail of capacitor placement on the board bottom.
Once bent, insert the four capacitors into the four sets of holes in the middle of the board (inside the 16-pin dip rows). These should be inserted in the board with the components on the BOTTOM of the board. Once in place bend back the eight leads from the four capacitors and solder.
Again, trim the excess leads flush against the TOP of the board taking care to trim close to the board. The MAX-232A chip will sit above these trimmed leads.
Continue on to Step 3 of the kit assembly.
