| ![]() Overview of the assembly showing position, orientation, and notation. First, install the LEDs on the top of the board. There is one red and one yellow LED for power and serial status respectively. Locate D1 on the board. It is a circular component. Also locate the red LED. Each LED has two leads. The shorter of the two leads is the cathode, which should be positioned closest to the "D1" and "D2" markings on the board. ![]() The shorter lead goes nearest the "D1" and "D2" marking. Insert the red LED cathode nearest the "D1" marking. The cathode needs to be inserted in the top of the board (lead enters side with white silkscreen). Once both leads are inserted in the board, bend them slightly on the bottom side of the board and solder them in place, soldering from the bottom of the board. Try soldering one side first, flip the board over to make sure it is not bent to the side, fix if necessary, and then solder the other LED lead on the bottom side of the board. Once done, trim the excess leads flush with the bottom of the board. The yellow LED follows the same process with the shorter lead nearest the "D2" marking on the board. Continue on to Step 2 of the kit assembly. |
