| Downloading Windows Software This guide gives some specific instructions for downloading software to your Windows machine from the Acroname Download Center . Getting the Files After logging into the Download Center, select the file you want to download and specify the target platform, target CPU, and download platform for that file. The download platform refers to the machine you will use to download the file. For Windows users, this is always Win32. Target CPU refers to the CPU that will actually run the software. Because all software for Windows machines runs on all CPUs, regardless of brand, this is typically Win32 as well. If you are downloading software for a PalmOS device or WinCE device, you need to download for the appropriate target CPU. Select the file you would like to download. A screen displays that describes the file in more detail. Click the disk icon to open the license agreement. Read this carefully as this is legally binding. After you have accepted the license agreement, the file starts to download. Your browser may prompt you for a location to save the file. For BrainStem downloads, we suggest you create a folder named Acroname in the Program Files directory of your main hard disk. Save the file to this folder or any of your choice. The file you are saving is a WinZip archive file with a ".zip" extension. Extracting Files To extract files from the archive, you need to use the WinZip utility. This utility is pre-installed on most Windows machines. If not, you can download a copy from the Winzip website. To open the downloaded archive with WinZip, double-click on the ".zip" file. The program launches and displays a list of files contained in the archive. Right-click on the one of the filenames and choose Select All from the popup menu. Optionally, you can use the "control-A" combination on your keyboard to select the entire list. Select Extract from the popup menu or click the extract button. WinZip prompts you for a location to extract the files to. Select the same folder you downloaded the original .zip file to (for example, C:\Program Files\Acroname\). The files are placed in the directory structure below the folder you select.
Conclusion Your application should be ready for use. If you have trouble with the download process, decompressing the archive, or understanding this document, please mail us and let us know. We want to to continually improve this document and we welcome your input. | ||||||
